Saving Corporate Ag and Big Real Estate from Themselves

Sometimes folk accuse us of trying to destroy, curtail, or interrupt agriculture. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

We’re trying to strengthen Cochise County agriculture. We want more small- and medium-volume producers to be able to make a living and thrive.

How do we aim to do this? By abolishing industrial mining of groundwater—the current practice of the ag corporations.

There’s another way of saying this. We want power and participation in a county-wide negotiation about the aquifers. We want most of the seats at this negotiation to go to the everyday people of our county. Such a free and fair discussion would lead to an end to industrial mining of our water.

There’s yet another, snarkier, way of stating our aspiration. We’re trying to save Corporate Ag (and real estate monstrosities) from themselves.
